Sentences can consist of one or more clauses. When a sentence only has one independent clause, we call it a simple sentence.

In order to find out whether a clause is independent or not, we can either check the elements of the sentence or check its meaning to see whether it makes sense on its own or not

برای تشخیص اینکه یک بند مستقل است یا نه، می‌توانیم به عناصر جمله توجه کنیم یا معنی آن را بررسی کنیم تا ببینیم آیا به تنهایی معنای کاملی دارد یا خیر

Compound sentences are made up of at least two independent clauses which means they have more than one subject and one verb, whereas simple sentences, just as their name suggests, are simple and consist of a single independent clause
